We're still here, I promise!!

I haven't been good about updating our blog lately because we've just been so dang busy! Between work, visiting friends, enjoying the beautiful weather and chasing after a busy 15 month old, there really isn't much time for anything else! That and our internet connection has been especially sucky the last couple of weeks :(

Highlights of the last few weeks...

  • My Cinco de Mayo Tupperware Party... yeah, I know it's sad that I'm excited about Tupperware! Ha ha! I had some friends and family out for yummy margaritas and yummy Mexican food and it was a good time! I'm anxiously awaiting the FedEx truck!!! The FedEx man is going to be my Tupperware Santa! Now I just gotta figure out where to put all my new stuff!

  • Our first Cardinals game as a family! A friend that Derek used to work with at Y107 was in town and we all went to a game. Addison did a great job and loved sitting in her own chair! She sure did think she was hot stuff. This game was much better than her very first game. It was much cooler, a night game and I had an extra pair of hands! I will never go to a game with Addison and without Derek again!!

  • Addison's very first sprinkler experience! She LOVED the sprinkler!! At first she wasn't so sure about it, but after a bit she realized that it really isn't so bad! She screamed and screamed when I turned off the water and brought her inside. She's gonna be our little water baby!

  • My little sister's college graduation! Another post will be coming with a few pictures that I have. My mom has more, so I might have to steal them from her!!

This weekend we will be heading to Chicago for Derek's best friend's wedding! We will be staying up there Friday, Saturday, Sunday and coming home on Monday. The wedding is on Sunday, so Addie and I will be going to the zoo to meet some of her little friends and their mommies from my message board. It should be a great time! I haven't seen these girls since last September and boy have the babies changed! They are going to be much more of a handfull this time around!

Welcome to the world Molly!!

Photobucket

Yesterday I had the pleasure of going into work to be the baby nurse for our great friend's c-section! I was so excited that they wanted me to be there and that I got to play a part in their special day! They did not know the gender of the baby until delivery, so I was one of the very first people to find out! They had a little girl! Another one of our friends had a baby on April 18th and they also had a girl... so now Addie, Maddie and Molly will be the 3 Musketeers! It is going to be so much fun getting together with all of them!

Photobucket

Molly is so cute! She has these cheeks that are to die for! You definitely want to give them lots of kisses! Momma and baby are doing great and I can't wait to go back down and visit! I really can't wait to introduce Addison to her newest BFF!

Busy, busy weekend!

Photobucket

Man... it's been awhile since the last post, but we've been super busy! Friday night was such a beautiful night and we went down to a BBQ at a friends house. They just got engaged so it was kind of like a little engagement party for them. We had such a good time and spent hours... yes, hours... in the hot tub! One of our friends, who I also work with, has a 6 month old daughter and Addison loved her! She loves giving babies kisses and Hailey sure got a bunch from her!

Derek spent Saturday hosting his best friends bachelor party and he managed to end the day without heading over across the river, ha ha! They spent the day at the Cards/Cubs game (Bob's fiance is from Chicago and he lives up there now, but he's a die-hard Cards fan!) with a good mixture of Cards and Cubs fans. I'm proud to say that the Cards won!

While the boys were out playing, I spent the day at the fiance's bridal shower! We had a great time and Addie was just a little bit crabby, but overall was a very good girl!

Sunday we spent the day at home and I put Derek to work! After he got home from the party and mowed, we went to the Home Depot and bought 108 heavy, heavy blocks to make a retaining wall for our front flower bed and in front of the shrubs. It's going to be a lot of work, but it will look great when it is done! We haven't even attempted to start yet! We need to recoup from loading and unloading the truck!!

Take me out to the ball game...

Photobucket

I took Addison to her first Cardinals game yesterday! One of my awesome friends had some tickets and invited me and two of my other BFFs from work, the only problem was that I had to take Addison with me! I know Derek would have loved to be there for her first game, but oh well... he gets to go the the Cards/Cubs game this weekend without me, so I don't feel sorry for him! Ha ha!

Stephanie and her 20 month old daughter, Rowyn, rode down with us and that was quite the adventure. We loaded up Rowyn's carseat in my car, put her in it and she started screaming! I think she thought I was going to take off with her and she was NOT into that! Then of course Addison started crying because Rowyn was crying and they took turns crying for about 5 minutes... crazy kids! So we finally got down to Busch and then had to lug the girls all they way to the Stadium where we were meeting Carolyn and Kristen... that was fun!

Addison and Rowyn are definitely going to be great friends! The two of them lasted until the 6th inning and did a lot better than I thought they would! They loved to give each other hugs! But I do think we convinced Carolyn and Kristen to never have kids! Ha ha!

Photobucket

I did learn a few lessons! Bring a hat!!! I can't believe I forgot her hat... those bleacher seats were super sunny! Thanks goodness we brought sunscreen! And NEVER, NEVER attempt to take a 14 month old to a baseball game without the assistance of the hubby!

Photobucket

I didn't get many pics because of course I was the only one wrangling the kid because she won't go to anyone but me... blah! But here are some of the few I have! She was quite the cutie in all her cards gear!

Well they're in! The flowers, that is! Addison and I took advantage of this beautiful day and went out and played. We planted the flowers I got yesterday and she LOVED digging in the dirt! She had so much fun... that is, until she decided she was a big girl and proceeded to take a step off the front porch! Her poor forehead has taken a beating this past week! Oh well, at least the bump from the last incident is gone!

Photobucket

They look great and I can't wait to plant more!

Photobucket

For her birthday, Addison got these Crayola color tabs that you put in the bathtub and turn the water a different color. So I got them out last night and thought we'd try them out! They freaked her out!! She couldn't get out of there fast enough! I guess we'll wait awhile to try them out again! Here's picture proof!

I am so excited! I went out and bought flowers to plant in my two planters on the front porch! I've been itching to plant and watching my neighbor plant veggies over the last couple of weeks has just made my planting addiction worse! I blame my mother... she is a plant-o-holic! Every year my parents spend hundreds of dollars on their gardens and I used to think they were nuts. That is until I bought a house of my own! Now, as soon as we have consecutive days in the 60's, my mind goes crazy thinking of what I can do differently this year! Now I'm nutty like my parents!

So I went to The Home Depot and bought flowers to plant and was sooooo ready to plant them! On my way home I get a call from my mother asking me if I wanted to go to dinner with them. NOOOOOO!!!! I wanna go home and plant! So, I said yes to dinner and now the flowers are sitting in my garage... it's like I have Christmas presents under the tree staring at me and I can't touch them!

Oh well... there is always tomorrow and it's supposed to be even nicer outside! I guess that's what we'll do tomorrow and Addison can test out her new garden shovel the Easter Bunny brought her! I will definitely post some pics then!

Derek is at the Cards game tonight (loser!) so I'm off to go keep the daughter company until it's night-night time! Then momma is gonna give herself a little pedi and watch The Biggest Loser! If daddy can go play, so can momma!

So here we go!

Here it is... my first attempt at a blog! Here's a little about our little family!

I am a mommy to a wonderful little girl and she's my world! I stay home with her during the day and work part-time as an L&D nurse. I work at St. John's Mercy Medical Center... the baby meca of St. Louis and there is never a dull moment there! We are so busy that we're busting at the seams. Too many mommas having babies! But I guess it's great job security! I love being a nurse and babies are really a miracle. It's awesome that my job is to help bring these little ones into the world. Having a child of my own, I feel, has made me a much better nurse. It's great when you can relate to your patients.

My husband is a recovering radio DJ who has finally grown up and has a big boy job! He now works for an awesome, family-oriented company who has been nothing but great with him! He is a recruiter, it's stressful and I know he'd love to be home more, but he is really good and it and enjoys what he does. He really enjoys his weekends and his favorite thing to do is play with our daughter. She loves him to death and squeals in delight when daddy comes home from work. Sometimes I feel like she thinks I'm the one who disciplines and he's the one who plays.

Photobucket

Addison is the most amazing little girl! She is my beautiful blonde haired, blue-eyed baby girl! Who knew I would have a blonde haired, blue-eyed kid! She really is the sweetest little kid in the world! Before having her, I could never have imagined the love she would bring with her. It really is unconditional. She amazes me every day with everything she learns and does. She is definitely her own person now and it's so cool! She is so loving... her favorite thing to do is give kisses. Kisses to the dog, kisses to pictures of babies, kisses to the baby she sees in the reflection of the window, kisses to her stuffed animals... everything! Some of her other new tricks include signing "more" and really meaning it, saying "hot" when she sees the oven, and saying "Awe..." after giving Max some lovin'! Soooo cute! She really does love her big brother!!

Photobucket

Max is the 4th member of our family, our first child! We got him when he was 6 months old and have had him for four years. He is definitely not the spry little puppy he used to be and his days are spent mostly with lounging on our bed, his pillow, or underneath the end table (to hide from Addison... unsuccessfully!). He's our lazy puppy and we love him!

That's our family! It's small and wonderful and is only gonna grow larger with time... but don't rush me! Hopefully our life doesn't bore you all too much! Ha ha!
